Any idea what this is?

An old spaceship discovered in the Sahara desert perhaps?

There she is in all her glory! The steamship of the land. In original condition and tended to with love and care!

In fact there were two of them and jointly they pull coaches filled with tourists over the mountain passes on a day trip, from the city of Cape Town to the rural area of the apple fields in the Overberg.

The first one is named "Dominique"!

And as you can see here, the second one is named; "Bailey"

And finally when they pulled off on the return trip to Cape Town, I got this one with the smoke from his stack forming a nice picture around the sun!

To me personally it felt like a home coming, as I served in the army in a town not very far away in the 70's. Or the feeling of Deja vu, like one has been there before, as two of these babies pulled us all the way back to Johannesburg (home) on furlough and back and also at the end of my subscription. They were of course milk trains that stopped at every station along the 3 day trip. Nothing beats the clickety clack of the railway tracks and the forlorn peal of their hooters.
Of course the sound of their steam engines have a very distinctive sound, chuggety, chuggety, especially on the uphill sections.
