Spring in South Africa! Egg laying time for Dragonflies!
Always wondered why they tip their tail in the water? Well this lady shows us why! She is laying her eggs on the underpart of this floating reed!
For those that do not know us, twice a week we do a 5km health walk on a nearby farm. There's 3 dams on the farm and after our walk, we normally sit in the shade of a beautiful tree between the 2 lower dams. The farm also has a huge wetland area and it's a delight to discover the wonders of nature in the wetland and in the dams.
And here is another lady doing the egg thing! It was a difficult shot because of all the reflections in the water by the reeds!
Finally, here is the shot of the year! I thought they were mating, but no! She is laying her eggs, while he is keeping watch! It looks like the bee floating at the right is also keeping a watch. Maybe a bodyguard?
