Our apple valley world!

This is a new part of the world that we now live in! A typical farm scene above!

A new thing that we had to learn very quickly is that the apple valley falls into a winter rain region. So not only is it cold, but it's also very wet and fierce driving winds do not improve matters. But even in adverse weather, this place is certainly beautiful and natural.
Let's have a look!

The tree lined entrance to another farm!

Winter rain and abundant water creates a very fertile valley!

Can you believe that there's a big mountain inside that cloud?

Here we have a brief respite in the rainfall!

And this is surely a heavenly scene!

Finally, no, no, this is not a sunset. This photo was taken at 06:35am in the morning. It's a sunrise!

Nirvana isn't it? We arrived here as two frazzled souls after 17 years of very difficult and stressful charity work. At Papillon we pushed from 6 in the morning until 6 at night and sometimes even later, including public holidays. Both Marian (my wife) and I have a 100% attendance record. But of course constant stress is a killer and it almost had me.
I became seriously ill with a blocked artery feed to my brain and had to have a major operation.

We worked from Monday to Saturday at the Papillon charity and on Sundays I preached over the 17 years and we had very few breaks, some years not at all due to the workload and the cost. Yes, we lived down to the very basics at home with no luxuries and we love our work. There's nothing nicer that the tears of a person that was helped. But it all comes at a cost. A health cost. The human body is not designed to endure a constant drive beyond its limits.

After the operation I was instructed to take a sabbatical of one year, "what"?, which is impossible for me as I cannot simply sit around while there is so much need in our country. In fact in the third week of our moving down here, we were already busy helping a needy farm school by getting them computers to train the children. But yes, things are a bit slower now and I am determined to run at a slower pace with forced breaks in between.

I have lost a lot of weight and also muscle loss and was ordered to walk a lot. Thank God for this, as I walk with Marian by my side all over this place, camera in hand of course and there's mega photo opportunities in this new place. Charity work remains our first love and on the sidelines we are planning a few projects to help the people here with their needs. It seems that education for the children and woman empowerment is on top of the list.
Finally, I hope some seriously driven people would read this!

Given it your absolute best, accomplished so much, young adults need to start being trained into social work, no profession paid in money, rewards come via the smiles of joy.

Turmoil in the valley with weather is like turmoil in the soul, someone needs to help take the baton and continue the race, time to train by the sounds of it Stephen.

@joanstewart, exactly right and it seems that you read my mind Lady Joan. Training is the key here! Blessings!

It looks like you are making the most of the new lifestyle that you were forced to adopt.

Glad you guys are having good rain though, you definitely need it.

@gholsa gratitude always open doors in life and it's become a habit of making the most of any conditions that we find ourselves in. The rain is certainly a blessing! Thank you!

Glad to hear you're healing and learning to relax. I am looking forward to more of your pics - when the apples are in blossom!

@fionasfavourites thank you Lady Fiona. Just today I was taking photos of peach, figs and prune blossoms and we still have to wait for a while for the apple tree blossoms. But soon all will be revealed! Blessings!

Looks beautiful and I'm grateful that you're slowing down a little. It wouldn't help anyone if you're no longer around.

@therneau I am a bit of a Donkey at times, but sooner or later one has to think about the process of aging. We had to load a big refrigerator this morning and for the first time "Tarzan" allowed a younger guy to lift at his side of the thing. I call that progress Lol.

Haha, indeed :)
