Firebomber plane assault on the forest!steemCreated with Sketch.

Bomb away! But let me show you his run-up to the fire!

"The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Department dispatched 12 fire engines and 10 water tankers with more than 120 firefighters assisted by Working on Fire firefighters and Cape Nature to try and extinguish the flames"
Above is a direct quote from an online news link about the fire and it also contains a video.

Now let's have a look at the single seater plane's approach to the fire!

Here he comes and it just so happened that I was in the right spot at the right time!

Wow! This guy was coming at a high speed!

I lost my breath, as he whizzed right past me!

And a great whoosh sound as he dropped his load!

Bang! And then he was gone!

Wow! It is difficult to explain my feelings and emotions at the time, as I have never experienced this drastic action before. I can however tell you that it was more intense than my bungee jump, or any of the other adventures that I have experienced. The moment set my adrenalin pumping like a powerhouse.
Fire is a most fearsome thing and we feel for the little animals in danger!
What an experience!

Thank you and yes, they managed to get the fire under control. Sadly we see in the news that there is another fire going in the mountains several kilometers away and that the same aircrew and groundcrews are now working there. The hot days and strong winds cannot make things easy for them, but they are well trained, brave guys. Blessings!

More intense than your bungee jump? Wow..that comes kinda surprising haha :D But maybe seeing it life feels different :D

Thank you! Really, as for a moment there I thought that the plane was heading straight at me! Now I am not a scary cat, as I had the odd .45 stuck in my neck during a robbery and many other close encounters of the crazy kind, but having a ton of angry steel hurtling at you at a crazy speed surly lifts the spirits a wee bit! Blessings!

WOW you were in the right place you got some amazing shots of the plane

It was indeed a great experience JJ, but a fire is always so destructive.

Ohh yes for sure, back in my army days I was called out to help with a couple of forest fires, and know how destructive they can be

Same here my friend as in the army in a rural area we had much practice killing fires in the mountains. They were not as clued up as these guys are today and we were mainly sent off in an army Bedford truck with a heap of wet sacks!

Ohh yes what you saw was very high tech, compared to us soldiers with sacks and shovels LOL

Wow! that's amazing! We're you on a hillside or something to capture that? How did you get such good close ups?
I could see how it could really get the Adrenalin pumping being that close to a force of nature and the battle to control it.

Thank you and yes, I was up on a hill, close to the mountain, with a vast valley spread out below. Fortunately the fire teams were experts and although the fire caused much damage to the countryside, no human life was lost.

Thank goodness for that!

Great shots! I have never seen the work of fire aviation. It is very interesting.

Thank you my friend, the precision of the aviators and the work of the teams on the ground was indeed amazing to watch. Blessings!

Beautiful photographs sir..
Nice work..

Thank you my friend! Blessings!

Pilots assisting from above with fire-fighting must have been quite an experience.

Not something you enjoy, something to be admired the nibble flight patterns endured accomplishing the task at hand @papilloncharity

They had a spotter plane high up above the smoke cloud Lady Joan, and the entire flight and dumping operation was directed from the spotter plane. It was madness all round with 5 choppers running with full water baskets and the bomber plane nipping in and out at high speed! What a show!

Must have been something to see, they really orchestrate among each other making a formidable team.
