FOR THE LOVE OF PASSION!!! by @papa-pepper

in #photography8 years ago

New photos and old memories. I first came in contact with the Passionflower back in 2004 when I lived in New Orleans. It truly is an incredible flower! Back then, I never even knew that they made an edible fruit. (I'll cover that shortly in my series THE EDIBLE OUTDOORS, where I show which wild plants may be living near you that you could start eating.)

Here's some edited photos from today of some of these beautiful flowers. I believe that all the flowers photographed are Passiflora Incarnata (Purple Passionflower), but that some just happen to be almost white.

These are the unedited originals from today of the images above.

The rest are additional unedited Passionflower photos from today. Enjoy.

If anyone is interested in the United States, I have seeds from these beautiful flowers. They can be difficult to germinate, but once they start growing, they're a perennial in growing zones 7-11. (I'll cover propagating these vines from cuttings in my series papa-peppers guide to plant propagation soon.) They can also work in a greenhouse or spend the summer outside and winter inside farther north. I'll ship them for no cost to the first 5 replies from people in the US who request them.

Thanks, @papa-pepper

HERE'S YOUR PRIZE PACK @pixellated. Passionflower, Kiwano, Noodle Beans & a BONUS of 10 Peruvian White Habanero Pepper seeds too - Just 'cause I'm @papa-pepper! I'll try to get them to the Post Office tomorrow!

Awesome! white habanero even! Can't wait to give all these a try.
Your Siberian House Paprika and Spanish Pepper seeds shipped out today too.

I GOT YOUR SEEDS. THANKS. I'm doing a post about it in the Morning.

I got your seeds too! will post a pic there, and once I get some sprouting.
Thanks!

Awesome and trippy shots @papa-pepper. Thanks for sharing your photos with us!

Those are awesome! I am very interested in wild edible plants and can recognize a few in my home state of Oregon, such as huckleberries and salal.

Do these need scarification to germinate? Shoot me a few, I'll give em a try.

Here's a picture of the seeds I'll be sending you. I gave you 15 Passionfruit seeds, so hopefully they'll work for you. I had them in the cooler for the past 8 months or so, so they should be cold-stratified. If they grow, they'll keep coming back for years to come. Also, since both the Chinese Red Noodle Bean and Kiwano seed giveaways are still going on, I'll send some of those. They should both do well in your hot climate. And finally, just 'cause I'm @papa-pepper, 10 Carolina Reaper seeds, formerly the hottest pepper in the world.

If you make an account on https://steemit.chat you can private message me a shipping address. I'm papa-pepper on there. There are a variety of methods that people use to attempt to get Passionfruit seeds to germinate; cold stratifying, soaking, scarifying, etc. No matter what method is used, it's best to be patient, as they may not sprout until the following spring, a whole year after planting.

The people may be made to follow a path of action, but they may not be made to understand it.
