SUNDAY WALK IN ÖXNEHAGA

in #photography5 years ago

We were blessed with beautiful sunny weather on Sunday, so I joined the regular student weekend group walk. This time we explored Öxnehaga – a lovely area east of Jönköping. Here are some pictures I took during the wak:

Wrapped in layers of warm winter clothes to keep the warmth in and the chill out!

We were a diverse group of students from France, Bolivia, the United States, China and one Swedish family (including the dog!).

The dog Aslan was especially happy about the opportunity to play in the snow!

A view at the starting point of our hike in Öxnehaga. Same lake as on the photo above, just from a different angle.

This was the type of the forest we had on both sides of our trails for most of the hike. Despite it being the middle of the day, the sun hang low over the horizon, as is typical for this time of year.

At some point we reached the top of the ski slope and could enjoy a stunning view of the entire Jönköping below us (the yellowish building in the very centre is the university).

If you need to traverse the snow very quickly, this is the type of vehicle you have to have!

And yet another view of the big lake.

After the walk we could enjoy hot coffee with waffles in a cozy café with a real fireplace.

Shame I'm too late to upvote this one, but I can still comment on your beautiful place!

How much snow do you get there?

I have cousins who live down south (on the Blekinge/Skåne border.)

Bästa hilsen!

Hi Lori!

Thank you for your lovely comment. Here in Jönköping we currently have maybe 20 cm thick layer snow lying on the ground.

Oh, cool! I used to live in Lund for almost 5 years and my girlfriend was from Kristianstad. So I used to visit that area quite often. Beautiful places!..

Yes. I think one of my cousins lives in Kristianstad. The others live in Sölvesborg - where the bulk of that family has lived for 100s of years.

Here, (Casper, Wyoming) we get around 77 inches of snow annually, but our winds mean we don't get to keep it. It rarely has a chance to build up like it does in most places of good snow. We only get to see 20 cm thick if it has just snowed that much.... then it blows. We might get to see it sculpted, like beautiful snow dunes (instead of sand), but more often than not it just blows away - it is unsatisfying.

How lovely is it to enjoy a nice walk like that in the fresh winter air and to enjoy waffles by the fire! Definitely something cozy. To top it off, it was enjoyed with many others. A great day indeed.

Чудесная прогулка и такая милая собака! У вас солнечно - здорово! У нас снегопады и морозы, не погулять особо.

Yep, he’s super cute!! :D

Interesting. You sure the dog didn't find anything?

It was just scratching its nose with snow. :)))

Looks just as cold there as it is here today!

LOVE that vehicle's tires!

Those are some beautiful photos. As someone who comes from the equator, snow always fascinates me.

The feeling of wonder when witnessing the first snow of the season never gets old, no matter how many times one has experienced it in the past. :))
