Literally, a milestone. A 344-years old milestone. Made of stone. Marking 10 miles*. Still standing firm, still serving loyally.
* An old Swedish mile was equal to 10.68 kilometres / 6.64 miles. So the milestone above is marking the distance of 106.8 km / 66.36 mi.
Pretty interesting indeed I like that, where is the starting point where the milestone is referencing? what important thing is it referencing to?

Thank you for the question, Roberto. I’ve been wondering about it myself. The city centre is much closer than 107 km. And there’s no settlement larger than Jönköping within a 100 km radius. So my best guess is that this milestone was moved from somewhere else in Sweden and put in the Jönköping City Park to preserve it as a piece of history for future generations, along with other historical reconstructed buildings and old monuments that can be found in the park.

Yes! And the modern Swedish mile is exactly 10 km.
