Two more butterflies for the spring collection
It was a nice, sunny day yesterday here in The Netherlands, so I went out butterfly hunting again. I first made a bee line to the forest flowers, but all I found were hoverflies pretending to be wasps:

It turned out the butterflies weren't busy eating, but basking in the sun further on, like this small tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae):

I also found a European Peacock (Aglais io) that refused to sit on a pretty background, but I suppose it is pretty enough all of its own:

Dagpauwogen overwinteren als volwassen vlinder, die kunnen zo maar op een willekeurige zonnige dag opduiken! Is er ook eentje die van brandnetels houdt, trouwens.
hommel ook .. zij zijn ook terug .. veel leven vandaag kleine bijen nog en 1 groene rups - op de lavender .. van een moth denk ik cute ^ ^

Those are pretty butterflies alright! We still don't even have any bees flying yet! Spring is slow here this year. Enjoy basking in the sun with a butterfly!

And I still think it is your fault, what with you eating all their food!
Those bees like all the Lamium purpureum even better than the dandelions, and I have so much of that! Endless quantities. And one of the peach trees is trying to flower, super early. But the rain has to stop before any insect has a chance to flit and fly among the flowers. C'mon sun!
