Snow in The Netherlands: photos part 1

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

As some may have noticed, I like snow. I like how it looks, how it sounds under my shoes, how it covers ugliness and filth, how it makes nature look, even how it makes my car's backside slide when I hit the throttle.

So, after the first and maybe only snow this winter in The Netherlands, I rushed out to get some photos before it all melted away. As usual with snow, my camera and I disagreed violently about exposure and white balance, but it all worked out in the end.

This is one of the entrances into the local peat bog. You can tell there isn't much snow, but it is Real Snow in The Netherlands nonetheless:

You could tell by looking at the snow sitting on the little poles that the snow was already melting:

Composition in branches:

A bit of old birch:

Even the extra weight of just a little snow can make branches of dead trees fall off, revealing a surprisingly bright orange inside:

More later!

The fence post has some good character!

These "old-school" fences are still used a lot around there, and they age quickly and nicely near the peat bog.

Like snow too, still rubbish winter so far... Hope that will still change. Snow, ice, nice.

Yes, not much of a winter yet here. All quiet on the "it giet oan" front.

Yes, unfortunately, no ice-skating on natural ice, so far.

@ocrdu hhaha no snow here, either
you guys out there had it - clouds' aren't fair hmp!

Love the second photo, great capture!
