Moths: Yellow Shell

in #photography7 years ago

Another one that likes to hide low in the grass and give me sore knees: the yellow shell (Camptogramma bilineata), gestreepte goudspanner in Dutch.

This species has a wingspan of about 25mm (1") and can be found in Europe and Asia. They fly from May to September.

Quite common in The Netherlands, according to the books, but I rarely spot them in the wild:

I think it would be difficult to find the moths because of their color and camouflage patterns.

Some hide and do their thing unnoticed, some sit in the open flaunting their colours.

It varies 8-). You can develop an eye for spotting them, and find them if you are willing to crawl about a bit.
