Caterpillars: Sycamore
This hairy beast is the caterpillar of the sycamore (Acronicta aceris), bont schaapje in Dutch. It is common in Europe and parts of Asia, and also in the grass near the local peat bog, where they like to look a me quizzically:

The moth is not colourful at all, but it does have a nice pattern:

I just posted some unidentified caterpillars. The first one could be Orthosia cruda, but I'm not sure. You probably know more about this than I, so if you recognise one, please let me know.
