Butterflies: Brimstone
The brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni), citroenvlinder in Dutch ("lemon butterfly"), shaped much like a leaf, is the yellowest of them all here in The Netherlands. Always nice to photograph these on purple flowers, but they rarely cooperate.
It is one of the longest-living butterflies, with a life expectancy for an adult of over a year. They overwinter as adults and emerge in spring, when they are seen mostly in wetlands.

I was really surprised that they can live for a year!
Do you get many bees where you are ?
Quite a lot, yes, also solitary bees and mining bees.
awesome. keep up the good work!
Well, I first time saw butterfly with leaf like appearance. Amazingly photographed beautiful God's creature. Life span of 1 year is unique in case of butterflies, they usually didn't have much life span...
Btw Lovely and informative post... 👍🏻
Thank you.
Really looks like a leaf. So cool.
Especially with the brown spots, just like a real leaf.
Yes, i think the creator of nature saw that leaf with grey spots then created the butterfly to compliment it with same essence.
Stay Blessed.
