A very yellow dragonfly

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

This is a broad-bodied chaser (Libellula depressa), platbuik in Dutch, that I saw the other day in the local peat bog.

This is fantastic macro photos! Great job

Amazing coloration. Looks like it's aglow, like a firefly.

That's an awesome shot! Well done.

I love the clarity of it. Mine always turn out blurry ;-)

Thanks. It was sitting still, that helps 8-).

Awesome !!! that is nice you must have a great lens to take those close ups?

Nothing special. The lens on the Olympus Stylus 1s is quite good for such a small camera, but such photos can be made with most cameras. These shots weren't even taken using the camera's macro mode, but at 300mm (eq).

it's a baby .. here's a link of the list of dragonflies in NL maybe you can find him there

Het is een platbuik. Zo heet hij echt!

oh .. ik heb alleen aan de fotos gekijken omdat ik zo gek ben op libelles
sorry hoor haha
ik heb niet gelezen ! betrapt (rood) hahah

Very beautifull dragonfly, great shots!

Thanks!
As usual, I was looking for another species of dragonfly entirely when this one landed near me.

You're welcome!

Those are the most wonderfull moments. When you look for one thing and you get an unexpected nice surprise like this. :-)

Really beautiful body, and such delicate wings. Great photography.

Wow! Nice photos of golden dragonfly. I'm not sure there are any of those around here, I'm going to go out and look soon.

Where do you live?

The US in the pacific northwest fairly close by the coast.

This particular species is only found in Europe and the Middle East ...

Well, I guess it is a good thing I didn't spend a lifetime searching in vain for the mythical golden dragonfly then. Lol.

Thanks for the information and posting photos.

Wow never seen such a "fat" dragonfly before.

It is called platbuik in Dutch, meaning "flatbelly" 8-). I think it is the dragonfly with the widest body out there.

Interesting and appropriately named too, at least until we find a fatter species one out there ;)

Yes, I agree with you. With the cameras and the people, such as yourself, who know how to use them. Our knowledge and awe of nature is greatly increased.
Thank you for your work that you give freely to us.

You are most welcome.
