Mistaken Post and Question...

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Sorry didn't know that was a posting penalty... But  I'm not wasting one of my favorite images I spent hours on and having it go to tax. I have only been here 3 days. There are so many rules here and I read the FAQ and didn't see that maybe I missed it.

So I'm going to turn this in to a discussion as I have a few questions and don't see a support or ticket system.

1. Can we delete posts?

2. What happens if I were sell an image to someone exclusively would I be able to remove it from the site or is all content on here for ever?

3. Are there any Admins that can be contacted for issues like this?

I apologize for the inconvenience. I'm certainly not trying spam or putting out low quality content and I don't see anyway to contact or even DM people.

Sort:

1- Can we delete posts?

Yes, but from the UI only (and when a post have been up-voted you can only edit it). Anyway text content is permanently stored on the blockchain, so even if you deleted it or edited it finally, others can find the original content and full edit history.

2- What happens if I were sell an image to someone exclusively would I be able to remove it from the site or is all content on here for ever?

Images are currently stored externally on IPFS and perhaps on a cache server owned by Steemit, Inc. Please mail [email protected] to check whether it's able to remove them. You may also want to check the Term of Service.

3- Are there any Admins that can be contacted for issues like this?

Steemit, Inc. can do something to help, but not all.

Thank you very much for your concise and informative answers. I do like that there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people in the community.

it sure is one heck of a tax farm

  1. No, that is why it is called a "block chain" once your post has past 24 hours it can't even be edited.

  2. No, the content is on here forever, see response #1.

  3. Not sure. Try the founders @Ned or @DanTheMan

Good luck man.

Edit: see Abit's response, he knows more than me.

That's not correct you can edit past 24 hours. I have done it many times. And no it's not on here forever if the images are hosted off this page by 3rd party hosting from what I understand because you are not uploading the to this site. You are only giving a URL. That why they are not responsible for the image content, legally. The text may be here forever however. Unless you delete it before editing is closed.

Note: I looked into this after this post was made.

Yeah, you are somewhat correct. However if you embed images in the post, the original versions are still available via archive I think. IDK, I could be wrong. I am by no means an expert in this. Good luck.

"2. What happens if I were sell an image to someone exclusively would I be able to remove it from the site or is all content on here for ever?"

I link all my photos from Flickr where my images are originally hosted, so I think if I remove an image from Flickr, it will also disappear from the posts it is linked from. Otherwise the posts themselves will stay on the blockchain forever, so it might be your preferred solution to link them from an external host.

Thank you. I do link from an external host.
