Colors of the sea

We used to say that the sea is blue. And they even came up with the color of a sea wave. But why is this happening and is it really so? After all, if you fill the glass with water without impurities, it will seem that the water is transparent. What happens to the flowers in the water? In fact, this is one of the main questions around which the whole underwater picture is spinning.

The first thing we encounter in the water is with the change and disappearance of the flowers. If the surface of the paint is still present, then as we dive, we lose them one by one. Shooting on even at a modest depth of 10 meters, we run the risk of getting a blue-green picture. This is due to the fact that water absorbs light unevenly in the spectrum, and much stronger than air. The first to disappear are warm shades, starting with red and orange.

Therefore, photos of the underwater world where there are bright colors are removed with artificial lighting. Most often these are outbreaks, although recently the trend of powerful lanterns has been actively developing. This is due to the appearance in the cameras of video shooting, and with the development of the illuminators themselves, and with the growth of the capacity of the batteries.

Why is flash preferable? The answer also lies in the power of light absorption. Even a very powerful source can pierce some pitiful few meters in the water. The flash is usually more powerful than a flashlight, and at the same time, due to a short response time, consumes less electricity. But even for a powerful flash, it is about 2-3 meters to the object of illumination.
