Dog-Rose Flower

The Dog-rose (Rosa canina) is a wild and delicate beauty that graces hedgerows, woodland edges, and countryside paths across Europe, Asia, and North Africa. Unlike cultivated roses, the dog-rose carries an untamed charm its pale pink petals, soft fragrance, and arching thorny stems speak of nature in its pure, unpolished form.

The dog-rose usually blooms in late spring to early summer, producing five-petaled flowers in shades ranging from almost white to gentle pink. The center holds a burst of golden stamens that invite bees and other pollinators. As summer fades, the flowers give way to bright red hips small, berry-like fruits that remain into winter and provide food for birds.
