Mantis in the grass - 草にあるカマキリ
The mantids are getting bigger! Yesterday, I was lucky to spot a few, largest was about 9cm while the smallest about 2cm. This brown coloured mantis split the difference at about 5cm.
カマキリたちはだんだん大きくなってます!昨日、9cmから2cmの見つけた、写真にあるのはその間の5cmでした。
Great at keeping pest species down, though I wish the dragonflies would start decimating the mosquito population soon!
カマキリはペストになら昆虫をよく食べてくれるがトンボたちがもうちょっと蚊を食べるの頑張って欲しいな!
omg looks scary but did well sir 👍🏻
They're easy to handle as long as you don't grab them; do that and they grab back! Just let it walk onto your hand! :)
i did once had a chance to shoot mantis. green and small and they moved fast. i notice bigger insects move slow.
They have more to move, and less that will eat them! When they are small, just hatched, they are very quick to run away but an adult, you can often touch before it'll react!
whoa... the first one is really great. 9cm is huge for me. I don't think I seen one bigger than 6/7cm personally.
Yeah, still a sub-adult too, no wings yet, I think that species gets up to about 9.5cm when adult, they're rather big, and heavy once the females start developing eggs before laying them.
How did you close up it?
Very carefully!
Lol, macro lens and moving very slowly so as to not scare it away. :)
