Little Monsters S2 Part 6 - Huntsman Spider アシダカグモ

I was lucky to spot this Huntsman Spider while out for a stroll at night, I was even luckier that it waited on the same spot while I went back to get the camera!
夜の散歩で運が良くてこのアシダカグモを見つけた！さらにカメラを取りに行く間、クモがじーっと待てくれました!

Getting down on the spiders level was a bit awkward but the resulting images more than make up for that!
To be sure I had at least one photo I took one from a higher position before attempting to get closer.
クモの目線で撮るのはいいと思います！万が一逃げるかも知らないから先上から一枚を！

As we can see, though the spider has huge fangs, it's mostly legs!
牙はデカイがこの子はほとんど足ですよ！

Why such long legs? The better to run you down and eat you!
These spiders look scary but are very beneficial as they eat unsavory things such as cockroaches and fast things like crickets too.
なんで足はそんなに長い？あなたを追いかけて食べるためだよ！
アシダカグモは速いものを食べるために速く走らないとお腹が空く！

So the next time you see one, don't scream "Oh my god!", instead say "Thank you for your hard work!"
今度見かけたら、"ヤバイ！"じゃなくて"ありがとう"を言ましようよ！
