Little Monsters Part 32 - Small Cabbage White

in #photography7 years ago

Sometimes called the Small White, or Small White Cabbage, the Cabbage Butterfly is a common sight in many gardens.

While the adult butterfly is beautiful and pleasant to look at; the larva are responsible for serious agricultural damage as they dine voraciously on cabbage and related plants, which means just about all vegetables that we humans grow: Cabbage, Canola, Napa cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower and others, all of which are cultivars developed from the same plant.

Fortunately, we haven't planted any of those in the limited garden space we have!

So, it was just visiting the flowers for a quick drink of nectar and to hang out for a bit.

It had quite the fashionable hairstyle!

As long as it doesn't also have a taste for roses... then there could be done problems.

I never seem to have a camera for special moments such as these! Superb!

I've had to let a few moments go for lack of a camera as well! Fortunately, I had the camera with me this time!

@mweich, where are the monsters? :)) Butterflies look very gently...

They do now, the monsters are the caterpillars which eat up the cabbages to become beautiful butterflies! :P
Thanks for your support @leylar!

Oh, caterpillars are monsters! ... oh yes, they are not as beautiful as butterflies, although there are also unusual

That looks so beautiful! Looks kind of moth-like though. I think I have yet to see one in person.

Moths and butterflies are related but it's definitely a butterfly. :)
Moths generally have a hairy image but butterflies are quite hairy too!

nice photo

Yeah, he was just hanging out, it was quite cute!
