I Went Strawberry Picking This Morning!
I drove up north to visit my dad today and as I was driving I saw this adorable organic farm off the side of the road. There was a sign that indicated that today was the last day of the season for strawberry picking! I said fuck it (excuse my french) and pulled over to park. I'm so glad I had my camera with me to capture my first strawberry picking experience at South Coast Farms.
Though frowned upon, it was hard not to resist tasting one of these ruby red strawberries. And wow. I had never tasted a perfectly ripe berry that was so sweet. I couldn't resist looking around making sure there was no one looking to plop another sweet one in my mouth.
It was the ideal weather conditions and time to pick. Bright and early in the morning when the sun is still hidden behind the morning clouds. The strawberries we're still a bit chilly from the night before which made the flavors pop and help maintain their perfect ripeness.
After I filled three green plastic cartons full, I paid the incredibly reasonable amount of $5.50. I got back in my car and I was back on the road with a happy tummy and cheesy smile plastered on my face. If you get the chance, I highly recommend going to pick strawberries at a local organic farm. Now's the time! If you've never tried fresh local strawberries, their flavor will blow your mind.

Yes, I know what you mean! We often do pick-your-own at local farms. Far better than supermarket strawberries :-)

I've never had the opportunity to pick fresh strawberries, but I can only imagine how much better they are than the ones found in stores. Plus, you can't beat the price you got them for! Great blog!

Super nice shots Lauren, what cam? I've never had a fresh strawberry but I have had a mango off the tree, peach, plum, pear,apple and blueberry. Strawberries are on the list now! Love that last pic with the ferris wheel in the back round. Well done woman!

But yeah, you have to experience the taste a local organic strawberry. I didn't even realize that strawberries could be that sweet.

I once drove a flat of strawberries from Plant City to Tampa in a truck with no A/C on a hot day. The aroma of those strawberries put any flower to shame! But I think they are best with a little whip cream.
Mmm yes, the aroma of them when they're in the car!! How could you not resist eating them? My temptations got the best of me haha
