It is a pretty rare event by all accounts. I just snapped away and this was the best shot. It's only when I tried looking these formations up that I discovered that they are so rare.
I have not seen anything like it! I do love to study cloud formations though. One day last year I saw a perfect map of the UK. I could not believe my eyes, but in the few minutes it took me to get out of the swimming pool and get my iPhone, it had disintegrated!

I guess anything is possible if the plane was doing a circle but the sky was clear. We do have USAF airbase a few miles away but I can't see a C17 Hercules Globe-master pulling one of these stunts lol
