Dealing with grey skies and dull light in Landscape Photography
Today I want to share with you my most popular Youtube tutorial of the last year and with it some inspiration to head out and take photos even in bad weather.
Bad weather here refers to days where you have flat grey skies, where it's raining or where you just don't get spectacular light. For landscape photographers this can be quite frustrating, especially during travels when we don't have much time at a location.
As I visited Northern Spain last year I wanted to photograph the sea stacks near Liencres under a glowing sky. At least such were the pictures I had in my mind. But clear skies turned into grey skies and I never saw a spectacular sunrise or sunset during the week I had.
But in the nine years I'm now doing landscape photography I have learned to embrace the conditions at hand and make the most of it. There's no need for a colorful sky to take a great photo.
As I explain in the video below there are other photo opportunities that can be persued in such situations.
