The Amazing Daffodils

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Daffodils are some of the earliest flowers in the spring, spreading bright yellow beauty across a gray landscape. In the northeast U.S. they seem to come out "too early" as there are always deep frosts and snows after they bloom. While that weather would normally kill most flowers, not the Amazing Daffodils.

Here are some photos of a patch of daffodils....on a timeline from this spring.

March 19

March 20th - the first day of spring with 15 inches of snow.

2 days later with beautiful sunshine

Oh-Oh - Another snow

Recovering Again

Frozen Daffodils - 19 degrees F at night for 2 consecutive nights - they feel like hard rubber - kind of strange.

Another Bed With a Full Blanket of Daffodils

In watching this progression of the amazing daffodils I have come to realize that Mother Nature is very intelligent and powerful in creating a beautiful, harmonious landscape with harmony amongst diversity.

Beautiful daffodils:) I love these strong and tough flower popping up in the snow reminding us of bright days to come

Thanks @kristihh. Brighter days to come - I like that analogy.

Daffodils actually look like they are a hearty plant. I wonder how they go with extreme heat.
Going to have to do some googling.

Great post :)

Daffodils - Not good in hot climates. They need a certain amount of winter and coldness in order to grow well and flower.

Oh bugger, well I guess I better not get some then. lol
