Brussels – A walk in The Park {Part 1}

in #photography6 years ago

Sometimes life gets a little hectic in the city. There are times when I truly wish to enjoy some scenery and let go of my thoughts that might nag at me on a daily basis. While in Brussels I felt to do exactly this, escape from it all and take a leisurely stroll on this wonder autumn afternoon. What better way to do this than tour the local park.

As I walked around the park, the beautiful trees had already turned from their bright green leaves into the yellows, oranges and reds we expect to see around this season. The leaves were falling in abundance and were being swept into the lake. It was amazing to see how the water feature was pushing the collection of fallen leaves away from its centre to for a picturesque water landscape. The ripples emitted tiny waves that gently sweep the leaves to the side. The occasional family of ducks would also make an appearance.

Though not particularly warm on this day, the sun was out shining brightly behind the collection of trees. I remember walking around this part of the park and seeing a huge contrast. The trees on the left had lost most of the leaves, covering the ground entirely. Yet on the other side, a tree stood tall and proudly held its green leaves in place. Further on a brilliant flock of amber appeared as the sunlight shone upon the trees that were getting ready to let go of their precious friends for the winter coming.

The sun can really transform a simple walk in the park into a dynamic experience that one immerses themselves into. The green grass contrasted brilliantly against the golden trees. I decided to take a short break here and sit on a bench. Park benches have never been the most comfortable spaces but there is something about taking a moment to ponder and absorb the environment that is truly satisfying.

To further demonstrate the range of colours that the autumn season brings, this almost arch like structure of trees displays beautifully created a scene that I had often seen in movies and galleries. The wind was gently blowing and the leaves slowly rustled. The trees swayed in harmony and I could hear every step I was taking, crunching as I walked across the grounds that were littered with golden leaves.

Nature is beautiful in its simplest form. This leaf was nature’s way of telling us that autumn had arrived in all its bliss. Though the temperatures might be dropping and the weather taking a turn for the worse, this is a beautiful season that really needs to be appreciated away from skyscrapers and pavements.
