My Spring Trip Photo's - Part 2: Prague
Hi all,
In my last travel post I shared photo's of Graz, the first location we have visited during our stay in Austria.
If you didn't see those photo's, please check out this link: https://steemit.com/photography/@lion200/my-spring-trip-photo-s-part-1-graz
After staying in Graz and seeing some places during a couple of days, we decided to move on with our trip. We went with our stuff to Wien. Before walking through Wien, where we planned to stay until we leave, we wanted to make a short visit to Prague as it was only 300 km's away from Wien. We thought we were already up here, so why not go see Prague, even for only one day :)
We dropped our stuff at the house of our nephew, and jumped in the car to go to Prague.
I must say, because of the constructions on the way, the trip to Prague took a little bit longer than expected, but in the end it was well worth! :)
Arriving at Prague, we were redirected to park somewhere near the State Opera building. Below you can see a photo of the Státní opera building. Again there were some constructions here.
I was impressed by the architectures of the buildings here while we were walking towards the city center. The buildings look fabulous!
This is the building belonging to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (thanks Google Translate! :))
Walking towards the city center, this is how streets look like in Prague:
Because of the unexpected long drive, we were a bit hungry. You can't walk down to the streets for a long time with an empty stomach right :P So we took the first opportunity to eat something. There was a Vapiano (italian) restaurant in this shopping mall.
Of course we didn't come to Prague to visit shopping malls! :) Let's go outside, and check out what there is to see!
There was a crowd at a square here, so we quickly joined them...
It was a market with local people selling food. But there was also a small theater like acting.
I don't exactly know what this building is, but it was looking very impressive! Very nice architecture!
Walking on... We saw this moving art in the middle of a square between some streets. It is the face of the famous Czech writer Franz Kafka. And this statue is called the Statue of Kafka.
Some streets were quite like the one below, but some were very crowded like the one next.
There were a lot of tourists, and the atmosphere on the streets was very pleasant. Also we noticed that despite the crowd, the streets were very clean.
Here we are heading towards the Charles Bridge... The sun is slowly going down...
And here we enter the famous Charles Bridge... This is a historic bridge crossing the Vltava river in Prague. It is named after King Charles IV who started the construction of this bridge in 1357. It is finished in the beginning of the 15th century. This bridge is connecting the Prague Castle and the Old Town of Prague.
There were artists making portrait drawings on the bridge.
After we reached the end of the bridge, we really felt very tired. But still there was so much to see. So we jumped on one of these sightseeing cars with an operator/driver telling us about the buildings and other important locations in the city.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to take good photo's while we were driving. So here just a couple of photo's I could take.
This is one of the oldest churches in Prague, if not the oldest. This one is built around year 1170 and is called Holy Cross Rotond. The style of this church is Roman style.
I don't remember what this building was. I think it was one of the governmental buildings...
Closing the day in Prague with some street food, sweets :)
Good bye Prague! You certainly impressed me! I will be back some time in the future!
Our next stop will be: Wien
Stay tuned...
Prague is a wonderful city! Your photos made my day)

I think it was a good idea to pop in and see whilst you weren't too far away. 300 Km is a decent drive, but an opportunity not to be missed. Prague I think is on my bucket list and will get to see it one day. I look forward to the next post on Wien.
Thanks for stopping by @cryptoandcoffee!
Yes, it was a good call in the end indeed :)
I must say one day was very short to visit Prague, but still I know what to expect next time ;)
Wien photos will follow shortly...
wooh you gave me a tour, I loved that man head on street, I have not seen anything like that yet even in pictures. :) Nice post
Thanks :) I'm glad you liked it!
this big building with very impressive architecture is called Palác Adria and architect responsible for the project was Josef Zasche
no need to thanks ;)
Ah! Thanks for the info! :) It really is impressive.
Amazing pictures. What a beautiful city.
I had never seen that monumnet ot Kafka. Very original. As hallucinating as his work :)
How do they call that sweet in the last pictures. It looks delicious.
Yes it is indeed quite beautiful!
The sweet is called Trdelnik. It was quite light actually, which is good :)
Thanks for dropping by @hlezama!
I love Prague, and I found that Cracow, Vienna, Budapest and Prague looks pretty similar. I know there was a time in the history were they all rule by one monarchy so that's the reason I think. On the other hand its quite convenient because in every city you feel comfortable and familiar. Great pic by the way.
Thanks for stopping by @anaerwu. Those cities have buildings which look alike indeed, but each city has also its own beauty. In that way I experienced Vienna different than Prague for example.
Thanks for your comment ;)
It's a pity that you got to spend only one day in Prague. It's a city where you need at least one week to really enjoy it and understand the history as well.. I used to live in Prague for 6 years :) and I kept ignoring this Kafka statue. I've been thinking if I ever actually stopped and took time to look at it and well, I didn't :) And that building is just an apartment building. There might be some offices too but no special meaning :)
Oh, and what a mistake that you drove on that highway! It's a disaster since so many years and it's better to take a train instead :) but you will know it for your next trip :)
I'm glad to hear that you liked Prague :) Congratulations on your curie vote!
Yeah, we only had one day. I knew it wouldn't be enough, but it gave at least a taste of how it will be when we come for longer ;)
I am very impressed about the city.
About the highway... It was not really planned, so we just followed the road signs :D
In the end we walked a bit until we reach the city, but it was a pleasant walk, we didn't mind ;)
