Nokishita proved once again it has totaly reliable sources for their leaks — spec sheet that we have shown few days ago was spot on! So, how did Canon’s first FF mirrorles match against Nikon’s pair in use?

Both, Canon and Nikon have their ideas of — draining the money of its users pockets. They have presented three new cameras that all have single card slot and priced them “professionaly”. The main difference — Canon won’t give you in-body image stabilization, using the chance to sell you stabilized lenses at the higher prices (see below). On the other hand, Nikon has introduced technically most excellent Z-mount, with characteristics that promise smaller, more reliable lenses with less electronics — and then introduced three big, relatively cheap plastic lenses, and announced one extra big and fiercely expensive Nocton! How biZarre!

But let’s see availability and pricing before we get to the most ridiculous part.

The Canon EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera should be available in October 2018, with a suggested retail price of $2299 for the body only. It will also be sold as a body-and-lens kit with the new RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens for $3399.

Why Ridiculous?

In short — because of handling. Both, Canon and Nikon, and Sony before them, in the race for the best possible techical performances, they have completely forgot about the user! Handling was already the weakest point of Sony’s Alpha models, but Nikon and Canon took it to the next level! Canon has introduced new control gimmick called Customizable M-Fn Bar. And look how easy it is to search for a correct order of pressing buttons to get what you want!

Then imagine how fun it is dive through user manual to learn what all of those cryptic buttons really do and how to customize them to your own needs… for stills and video… And they dedicated whole dial to an ON/OFF switch at the worst place imaginable! Well… let’s don’t underestimate their designers — in the next iteration they might find even worse solution!

Nikon had the best AF system on DSLRs, but you won’t get it on their mirrorless models. In turn, they left on their “professional” models atrocious MASP mode dial (a.k.a. “douche dial”) intended to the enthusiast entry models.

That’s why our @angel35mm must use Fuji cameras when he has to catch a sudden encounters with beautiful girls on bicycles…

Fuji and (presumptuously overpriced) Leica M are the only who actually make camera controls as God intended.

Fuji today announced X-T3 for only $1499. Let’s hope market will learn arrogant corporate giants to return to some senses.
