Downtown LA Night Photography Adventure 2
I jumped on my mountain bike at sunset and headed downtown. It's about 5 miles from my house and I have to bike through some funky neighborhoods, but it's worth the shots I get when doing long exposure work.
I had the camera strapped over back, bike lock and scarf. Gear: Canon 5DSR with a 16-35mm 2.8 I am kicking myself for not bringing my 85mm lens. Probably the last time I attempt to do this while bike riding...I was constantly worried about my camera knocking around and what to do with the bike while I shot.
Let's dive into images for the skinny...
The old Orpheum Theater. I think it's one of the many theaters that are dead relics of the past. Sad to see Broadway with so many theaters that might be cheap electronic stores or just empty.
Red lights at night have always attracted me. Two Boots Pizza
Jesus Saves
Tacos Mexico
Notice the blue lights? The interior lights of a city bus cruising by; I had mini tripod on the ground for most of these shots.
Crazy Tacos is always a good choice after a night of drinking at Clifton's
Bus on Broadway
Enjoy Steemians
Even though you didn't take the lens you wanted, your pictures are great! I struggle with night photography. Do you have any tips? :) Can you please tell me what exposure have you used for the last picture? Thank you in advance for coming back to me :)
I wrote a tutorial on urban street photography two nights ago you might find worth reading: https://steemit.com/photography/@lightenup/urban-night-photography-tutorial
but to answer your question: start with a 5-10 second exposure, lower your ISO to 100, and dial in your aperture for the appropriate exposure. Lights tend to be warm, so cool it down in post.
Thank you for coming back to me! I am going to check your tutorial now and try to make some beautiful night photography :)
