Beautiful Scenic Beauty of Ilam, Tea Garden of Nepal

Ilam district which lies in the Eastern Part of Nepal is a tea garden of Nepal. Ilam has border to West Bengal, India to the north. Ilam's neighbour hill town is Darjeeling of India. One can enjoy immense beauty of landscaped tea gardens views and fresh mountain air of Mount Kanchanjungha. Mount Kanchanjungha is the world third highest mountain in the world with an altitude of 8586 metres. Ilam is rich in cultural diversity, natural landscape, attractive natural beauty, ecosystem and of course the tea gardens itself. The friendly inhabitatnts of Ilam greets every tourists with infectious smile. The amazing and charming wooden building with balconies give the pleasure accomodation for every tourists.

One of the unique things that always happen in Ilam is that the fog suddenly appears to cover the tea gardens and disappears suddenly and you can feel different climate at this time. A cool breeze in foggy day sets up and refreshes the mind from the oppressive heat of the plains. In Ilam, one feels happy in the company of nature. Ilam in not only famous for tea, the other cash crops are also produced here which includes- cardamom, ginger, broom grass, potato, red round chilly. The main occupation here is farming whereas other are involved in guiding tourists, businesses. The hills of Ilam is greenery all round the year. Ilam is also the main research points for researchers who wants to study rare birds and Red Panda. Tourists can also ride on a horse for sightseeing in Ilam.

Tea plantation was started in Ilam 139 years and the first factory was established in 1878 AD. National Tea Day is celebrated in May of 1 in Nepal. Nepal ranks 19th position in World's Tea Production.

Ilam Women Plucking Tea Leaves

The cold and humid climate with plenty amount of rainfall and long duration of sunlight are the major reasons that make Ilam suitable to grow tea leaves. The main source of income for people living here is the tea production. Our tea leaves are grown without fertilizers and pesticides in pure soil and is processed naturally and organically and we export good quality tea products outside. The tea leaves is first picked. Then it is dried in the sun. After that it is processed in machine and is packed for sale. Different types of tea have different processing techniques. The tea of Ilam is exported to many parts of Europe.
