Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

After Pulau Tioman, I took the bus to Singapore, and this will be my new thread of posts.

I got through passport control, and then taxi to my hotel room. I had booked the room through expedia, like I used to back in those days. It was close to amenities, but quite expensive for what it was. From what I remember, Singapore rooms were very expensive, and I paid the same for a small room in a small hotel with what I had paid for a large room in a four star hotel in Siem Reap.

It was late when I arrived, so I had something to eat and slept. Next day I hit the sights.

First on the list was the Marina Bay Sands, which I found fascinating to look at. It was like a ship sailing in the air.

I went there for a coffee early in the morning. This hotel has one of the most spectacular pools I have ever seen.

Most hotels have plants and pots of flowers inside. This has a little garden in the air.

Can you imagine this garden hanging up 191 meters above the ground?

It also has some amazing vantage points looking out towards the sea.

The hotel offers one of the largest casinos in the world, a shopping mall, two theaters and a museum of Science and Art!

If you notice the structure of the hotel, it's like a boat hanging on top of three towers. These three towers symbolize good luck, prosperity and long life. You can read more about it at http://mir-feng-shui.com/en/article/secret-of-singapore-s-success/.

I must admit I was quite impressed by it. And the coffee wasn't bad either.

Next stop was Chinatown, which deserves its own post. So more Singapore in the next post, where I will show you one of the most impressive Chinese temples I have ever seen.
