Even in the pre-war years in the championship of Khabarovsk and the Cup of the Krai the players of the DKA (Red Army House) team played not unsuccessfully, as I.Baldin, V.Menshikov, who later became the deserved coaches of the USSR, played in the composition.
But the war prevented the further development of hockey among the Far Eastern warriors. And only two years after the end of the war, in 1947, largely through the efforts of Georgy Ivanovich Khrulkov, the team of the Khabarovsk House of Officers (ODL) was recreated.

According to the memories of hockey old-timers, Georgy Khrulkov - a native of Vladivostok, being still a boy, was the first ringleader in the local "Spartacus." At the age of 16 he already played for the national team of the Far Eastern Territory. Called to the Pacific Fleet, Khrulkov shortly before the war as part of the football team fleet in Kiev, where he scored three magnificent goals in the gates of the famous "Dynamo".
Conditions for training at the "army" at that time almost nebylo. The athletes themselves made clubs, they themselves skated skates. The only outfit were ski suits and knitted hats. But they trained and played themselves without a trace. A year later ODO wins the Far Eastern Cup final against Khabarovsk's strong Dynamo 4: 1.

Еще в довоенные годы в чемпионате Хабаровска и розыгрыше Кубка края небезуспешно выступали хоккеисты команды ДКА (Дома Красной Армии), в составе которой играли ставшие впоследствии заслуженными тренерами СССР И.Балдин, В.Меньшиков.
Но война помешала дальнейшему развитию хоккея среди воинов-дальневосточников. И только через два года после окончания войны, в 1947 году, во многом усилиями Георгия Ивановича Хрулькова, была воссоздана команда хабаровского Дома офицеров (ОДО).
По воспоминаниям хоккейных старожилов, Георгий Хрульков - уроженец Владивостока, будучи еще мальчишкой, являлся первым заводилой в местном "Спартаке". В 16 лет он уже играл за сборную Дальневосточного края. Призванный на Тихоокеанский флот, Хрульков незадолго до войны в составе футбольной сборной флота выступал в Киеве, где забил три великолепных мяча в ворота знаменитого "Динамо".
Условий для подготовки у "армейцев" в тот момент практически небыло. Спортсмены сами делали клюшки, сами клепали коньки. Единственной экипировкой являлись лыжные костюмы и вязанные шапочки. Но тренировались и играли самозабвенно. Уже через год ОДО выигрывает финал Кубка Дальнего Востока у сильного хабаровского "Динамо" - 4:1.
