St. Augustine From Above or My First Helicopter Trip.

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

In December of 2015 when I went to visit my family in Florida, my dad gave me a helicopter trip as a gift.

He knew that I, in spite of my hobby as a child piloting airplanes, had never ridden a helicopter.

The gift was a surprise. We arrived at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport with no apparent reason. We were his girlfriend, he and I. The first clue came with the car that came to pick us.

This car took us to where the helicopter was, and then all became clear.

The helicopter was a Robinson R44 with 4 seats.

Already in the air we head towards the city of St. Augustine, the first city founded in America by the Spanish explorer and admiral Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565. The idea was to fly over.

The top views of the city and the surrounding countryside were amazing.

The helicopter was shaking a lot less than I had imagined.

It was a very smooth ride.

It was an incredible experience to have ridden helicopter. I hope to do it again again in the future.

Here is a video of 5 minutes filmed with part of the trip, from the takeoff to the landing.
