[ENG-SPN] Cathedrals, coffee and speculations / Catedrales, café y especulaciones

The Gothic was such an extraordinary and innovative style, when it came to conceiving the noble art of sacred architecture, that it not only broke the mold in its time, but also, to this day, not even historians have managed to come to terms with it. There is no agreement about its true origin, although, leaving aside, a necessary illumination to solve the obsolescence of previous architectures, such as the Romanesque, it is considered that it was imported from the East by the Crusaders who returned to the continent.

There are those who go even further, and believe that it was the Knights Templar that not only imported it from the Holy Land, but also that they were the only ones, in their time, capable of financing the costly effort involved in the creation of a cathedral, to the point that there are those who tend to verify that this style began to decline, precisely, at the same moment in which the Order of the Temple was hunted down, through one of its greatest debtors, the French king Phillip the Beautiful, and it was definitively dissolved. Be that as it may, what is truly a luxury is being able to contemplate one of these fascinating buildings and be able to speculate, at length, about its media beauty, in the heat of a good cup of coffee and its corresponding glass of pomace cream.

El Gótico fue un estilo tan extraordinario y novedoso, a la hora de concebir el noble arte de la arquitectura sagrada, que no sólo rompió moldes en su época, sino que, además, a día de hoy, ni siquiera los historiadores han conseguido ponerse de acuerdo acerca de su verdadera procedencia, si bien, dejando aparte, un alumbramiento necesario para solventar las obsolescencias de arquitecturas precedentes, como la románica, se considera que fue importado de Oriente por los cruzados que regresaban al continente.

Hay quien va más allá, todavía, y estima que fueron los caballeros templarios lo que, no sólo lo importaron de Tierra Santa, sino que, además, eran los únicos, en su tiempo, capaces de financiar el costoso esfuerzo que conllevaba la creación de una catedral, hasta el punto, de que hay quien tiende a constatar, que este estilo comenzó a declinar, precisamente, en el mismo momento en el que se procedió a dar caza a la Orden del Temple, por mediación de uno de sus más grandes deudores, el rey francés Felipe el Hermoso, y ésta quedó definitivamente disuelta. Sea como sea, lo que sí es un verdadero lujo, es poder contemplar uno de estos fascinantes edificios y poder especular, largo y tendido, sobre su mediática belleza, al calor de una buena taza de café y su correspondiente copa de crema de orujo.
