[ENG-SPN] Talking about dreams / Disertando sobre los sueños

In my opinion, the Greek was one of those exemplary cultures, which not only shone for its artistic refinement and its natural passion for Fine Arts, but also focused its attention on the world of the archetype, which millennia later would give rise to the most complex theories of Psychoanalysis. Deeply attracted by its complexity, they saw, in dream experiences, a causal manifestation, by which the Gods communicated directly with men, through what they poetically called Doors or Horns, of Gold or Ivory, depending on the nature of the communication.

The interpretation of dreams, as well as the ingestion of certain hallucinogenic mushrooms, together with the brilliant properties of water, were part of the therapies that priests and priestesses administered to all the patients who came to the great sanctuaries -let's take, for example, Delphi and Eleusis- in view of the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of a large number of diseases, because not in vain, as the basis of their psychology, we are left with the significant phrase: a healthy mind in a healthy body.

En mi opinión, fue la griega una de esas culturas ejemplares, que no sólo brilló por su refinamiento artístico y su natural pasión por las Bellas Artes, sino que, además, centró también su atención en el mundo del arquetipo, que milenios después daría lugar a las más complejas teorías del Psicoanálisis. Profundamente atraídos por su complejidad, veían, en las experiencias oníricas, una manifestación causal, por la que los Dioses se comunicaban directamente con los hombres, a través de lo que ellos, poéticamente, denominaban como Puertas o Cuernos, de Oro o de Marfil, según fuera el carácter de dicha comunicación.

La interpretación de los sueños, así como la ingesta de ciertos hongos alucinógenos, unido a las brillantes propiedades del agua, formaban parte de las terapias que sacerdotes y sacerdotisas administraban a todos los pacientes que acudían a los grandes santuarios -pongamos, como ejemplo, Delfos y Eleusis- en vista al diagnóstico y posterior tratamiento de gran número de enfermedades, pues no en vano, como base de su psicología, nos queda la significativa frase de: mente sana en cuerpo sano.
