A Sunset to Remember [photography and a few thoughts]

in #photography8 years ago

When I grew up I lived in a trailer park on a hill.

There weren't many redeeming qualities about my neighborhood. 3 houses formed a meth ring and the reason I couldn't ride my bike around the neighborhood. Most folks there were dying elderly people living out their social security, barely scraping by existence. But there was one thing on the hill that everyone in the neighborhood loved, the sunsets.

Everyone would stop and take in the view.

Husbands and wives would stop screaming at each other. Old people would drag their oxygen tanks out to the porch. Kids would stop their bikes. Hell, even the animals quieted down for a little bit, and there were plenty of animals.

It is a blessing to be stopped in your tracks.

Those sunsets were one of the most transcendent things in my life. They were like little way points that made me stop and consider who I was and where I came from. It is important to have those moments in life, to get a glimpse of the tapestry your life is woven in to, made of experiences, people, and all those little memories.

May this stop you in your tracks.

Breathe in, breathe out. Know who you are. Know why you are here. Appreciate where you came from. Consider where you are heading. We only get one of these lives as far as anyone knows, it's easy to start living a life someone else is telling you to live. So take the time to ask, is this the life I want? Did I decide my dreams were too big? What if I could get bigger?

Love you guys! Thank you for viewing my work!
