Lovely April snow

in #photography6 years ago

We may grumble here in the Twin Cities about the snow that will never end, but snow that falls in April is always so fresh and soft and lovely. I'm not complaining. I mean, if it's going to be cold, it might as well be fresh and white as well. It snowed last night again, so we woke this morning again to a white world. Here are a few pictures I took on the way to work.

These two geese sat and posed for me, just sitting happy as can be on a field of snow.

I took a picture of these shrubs (possibly sumac?) so you can see how every little branch and twig becomes frosted when there's a fresh spring snowfall.

This picture captured a broader landscape and the sun illuminating the early morning sky.

Am I crazy to live here? Perhaps! I'm used to coastal weather and beaches. Everywhere I've ever lived before Minnesota, I've been able to plant flowers in March or April. Here we have to wait until May. But I will say, when the nice weather comes, it is absolutely gorgeous and we appreciate every moment of it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hopefully those geese are ok. Maybe they just landed in a pond, and it froze over while they were swimming about, and now their little feets are stuck in ice.

That does happen, as you probably know from life in Wisconsin, but no. In this case, they are just hunkered down on a field. Anyway, the ice has been solid since December. :-)

I had no idea you were in the Twin Cities. I grew up a couple hours near there. While we have no snow in Florida I do miss having it somewhat! I would take seeing those beautiful two birds on a nice lake in the spring and summer! I don’t think people are crazy for living in Minnesota. I often think of Florida as just one giant swamp and the people here often seem crazy.

Yup! I hail from Minnesota these days. My family moved here from California almost 14 years ago. There are pros and cons to anywhere you might live, but in spite of my deep love of the coasts (and I have lived on both), Minnesota has been my favorite place to live. I find the people overall to be friendly and enlightened.

The people where always wonderful there. Granted growing up I was blessed to have been in a decent area as well. That is one thing I’ve feared with being gone for so long is how things like that can change. Finding decent towns with great people in them seems to be harder and harder to find.

Down here it feels like some of these people have been left out in the sun way to long and any kindness left boiled out of their soul. You would think being so close to beaches and the ocean they be more relaxed and care free.

I was just down there a few weeks ago, and I was blessed to interact with only nice people. But I have to say, that's one reason I am in Minnesota. It's overall very pleasant. I lived on the East Coast for a few years, and had the experience you describe. I made great friends and had a lot of fun, but I came across too many crotchety folks for my taste!

They don’t call it Minnesota Nice for nothing :)

Those two geese looks really laid back and chilled :)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they were smoking something! Ha ha ha. :-)

Lovely pics... But I've had enough snow for one year, I'll be happy to see the back of it :o)

I know, right? Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get warm again!

Ha ha, yes indeed!! It's been a pretty crazy winter..

Winter is cold but those shrubs look amazing in their winter coat:)

They really are pretty, aren't they? :-)

Absolutely:)
