Steemit Photo Challenge #2 - Theme Announcement!
Step right up, step right up!
The first Steemit Photo Challenge was a hit. I couldn’t have asked for a better turn out! We had some amazing photos submitted by very talented photographers. I hope that everyone went and followed their work!
Initially I’d wanted to do a new challenge once every two weeks, but I thought that so many things happen in two weeks on Steemit that it feels like an eternity! So instead, I’ve chosen once a week. If this is too often, just let me know! We’ll see what the turn out for this one will be.
We’ve got some guest panelists for this Steemit Photo Challenge so that it’s not just my tastes driving this thing!
The panel for this contest will be: @condra, @begstreets, @pfunk, and myself.
We will choose our picks for the top FIVE entries, Honourable Mentions and the new prize for People’s Choice!
The prizes for this contest will be determined by the rewards of this post.
I kept the SBD from the last Winner's post to put towards this round, plus whatever comes in now.
So please upvote if you want to keep this thing going. It’s up to you, the community!
I'd like to match the prizes from SPC#1, if we can!
Now, with all that business out of the way!
The Theme for the Second Steemit Photo Challenge will be:
Shadows
Style: Black & White
I’m looking for high contrast images featuring shadows. Any subject would be fine.
Pay attention to composition, though!
A few examples of some shadowy high contrast photographs can be found at these links:

You get the idea.
The Rules And Conditions have been updated.
Please read these carefully and adhere to them
UPDATES:
No more than 3 entries will be considered, if you post more than 3 then only the first 3 will be considered.
A “People’s Choice” will be selected by number of votes (not by value), so make sure you vote for your favourites!
Deadline for entry is midnight my time (GMT -4) on Sunday
All entries must be tagged both #photography and #steemitphotochallenge
The Title should contain "SteemitPhotoChallenge Entry" along with the title of your work.
Let us know the medium used to produce the photograph, it may be more impressive based on what it is.
Basic processing is allowed.
Any medium or format is allowed — iphone, ipad, film, digital, point and shoot, drone, whatever. Once it takes a picture. Note that image quality will be considered.
Multiple Entries can all go in one post, just put the details under the image.
I strongly encourage you to post work that is original to this challenge, in other words — take a new photograph instead of using an old one.
If you would like, use the #SteemitPhotoChallenge tag across social media like Twitter, FB and Instagram. It may drive more users to the platform.
Any attempt to steal others' work is considered a serious infraction by the community, so don't do it. Please don't waste your and our time by posting some image from the net.
Every effort will be made to ensure that we do not reward theft. All images will be reverse checked, if the image has been found on more than 2 “major” websites, it will be disqualified unless reasonable proof can be shown to prove ownership of the original. If there is any doubt whatsoever about the ownership of the photograph, I reserve the right to disqualify the image. It is in your interest to provide any proof necessary. I would appreciate any help from the community in finding plagiarism where I might have missed it.
The photographs will be judged on how well they met the challenge, the quality of the image, the composition, lighting, exposure, and the general aesthetics which means that yes, it is subjective.
The decision of the panel will be final.
The winners will be announced in a new post after a few days, the rewards of that post will help fund the next round of winners for Steemit Photo Challenge #3.
Happy Snapping!
Let’s see your shadows.
Great; I will be looking for some shadows this weekend :)
No, a challenge every week is not too often.
Good luck to all who will take up the challenge. Happy shadow hunting.
Good luck everyone!
Thanks for this another wonderful photochallenge @jamtaylor . You're making the community grow in a more different way. For sure, this will be a big hit too and it would attract newcomers by participating..Cheers!
So dope! I am in. One question folks, technically every single (99.9999%) photo has shadows. I am seeing some entries that in my estimation do not feature a "macro" or "larger" sort of shadow. I am I to understand that the sky is the limit or would it be better to really feature shadowing in such a why that a casual observer would perceive it as a photo with shadows?
Good question and observation. I want to see shadows featured heavily in such a way that the casual observer would notice them. Most of the entries here show images that are composed in such a way that the shadows are a main feature of the composition [not the header image]. Thanks!
I just wish to give you a huge thumbs up for the great info youve got right here on this post. I am coming back to your steem profile for more soon.
O.k., I'm in!
A shadow contest hey!?! Alright, last summer as I was chasing rainbows near Jasper Village, in the National Park, a series of rain clouds came by during the sunset. The sun casted the shadows of the mountains on the rain while the upper part of these continuously morphing shadows were shinning with a rainbow hue!!! With a bit of imagination, you will even notice an eagle that had formed in the shadow of the mountain, just left of the center point... ;)
I hope you all enjoy! Namaste :)
Here's my photo:

How do you get the https link from Flickr? When I try to get a URL I only manage to get a http link :(
Hmm you click the share then choose the BB Code.
It's still giving me a http link which doesn't work on steemit. Anyhow, it's not a big deal. Thanks!
