The Asian Longhorn Beetle is such a problem, for sure. The threat of them moving into eastern Canada and Sugar Maple country will never end, now that they are in North America. Carrying firewood around when people travel to go camping is an easy way to spread them! It's great that you take such nice photos of borers -- it gets people interested in them and what they do. And then learn how to keep from spreading them around.
Indeed, knowledge is a powerful tool! Perhaps the most powerful.
These guys are native here, so there's not much to be worried about, it's when they get into places where they have no natural predators that it becomes a problem.
It's good to know your personable borer is a native one! Knowledge is powerful, alright, but photos like yours spark an interest - and that makes all the difference!
