Photographing Trip In The Summer

Today has been a great day in terms of weather, almost felt like spring has finally arrived here in Estonia. Truth is, the weather is just teasing us. The forecast shows how arctic cold will be here this week, leaving no room for spring.

Anyway, today's weather conditions made me remember summer and trips I took. It was 23rd July when I had an idea to go for a little photographing trip. Sometimes you just feel a massive need to go somewhere and start taking photos. I am sure that people who love photography understand what I'm talking about. So I contacted my friend for companionship and without further thinking, off we went.

We drove away from the coast to more inland of Estonia. We didn't have any certain destination and everywhere we went we thought on the run.

During the drive, I spotted abandoned building and decided to take a closer look. No signs, no nothing, I didn't find any information on the internet what this building could be or could have been.

I knew about some natural caves nearby and decided to find them. I thought that it will be hard to locate them in the dense forest but it was relatively easy, tracks in the forest lead me right to them. Those caves were the result of moving water there lifetimes ago.

After little more time spent for finding places to go from the web, I decided to go and find a little spring lake. Supposedly there should have been crystal clear water and it is possible to see several meters deep into the bottom. This place was really remote and I knew it will be hardly accessible. After a little walking, problems soon started. The road ahead was full of nettles and we were dressed in shorts. Our situation was evident enough to know we were not prepared for this hostile environment so we canceled this plan.

Point were we decided to turn back

While driving to our last place we decided to go, the field of barley caught my eye. I decided to explore it a little closer and take some photos from there.

All the barley looks so soft and it just makes you feel you want to throw yourself in there. I tried it, at the start, it feels soft and comfortable but after you are out of the field, some serious itchy and scratchy situation begins.

Now I have a funny story with this picture below. We were on someones barley field and it leaves tracks where u step which means you kind of ruin their crops, farmers usually dont like it. At some point, we saw someone driving towards us on the gravel road. I shouted to my friend STAY DOWN! WE NEED TO HIDE NOW, THEY CANT SEE US IN MIDDLE OF THE TALL BARLEY. So we stayed down and at this moment I knew, I fucked up. I had left my car in a middle of the thin road and it is not possible for the other car to pass. I started running towards my car and by the time I reached there, the other car already waited and probably thought of what the fuck is this idiot doing. Fortunately, he didn't say anything. The best thing is, my friend managed to take a photo of me at the exact right moment.

Our last goal was to find a big boulder stone somewhere in the forest. We took a short hike through the forest roads.

This rock came here to Estonia during the ice age. Its origin is from Northern Norway cliffs and it came all the way here due to movement of ice once.

By the time we reached the boulder stone, it was getting dark and this ended our journey on that day.
