BIOGAS DIGESTER PROJECT ON MOUNT EVEREST IS THE SOLUTIONS FOR MANY PROBLEMS.

Today I will talk on interesting topic which is about MOUNT EVEREST. Here in Nepal every year there is almost 1,200 people come in summit of mount everest during the season of May for climbing on the world highest peak in which most of them can't manage to complete fully and some of them even die there.

Here in mount everest the temperature is always far below zero, there is always a threat of frostbite and even death. Because of very low temperature there is very big problem which is doing poop, this looks funny but it is not.

Do you know this season who work on mount everest they carried more than 14 tons of human waste from many locations like base camps. Climbing on everest is the lifetime dream for most of the climbers. In excitement you can go there and see lots of scenery and the nature but sometimes it creates mess. It the responsibility of every climber not to make waste.

The solution of this problem is to use biogas digester that can be produced by fertilizer and methane. The bio gas can be used to cook food and lighting homes.

According to Mr porter " methane gas can be produced in a large tanker that can hold water, human waste and anaerobic bacteria which helps in creating methane gas" this can power cooking stoves and fire. But their is a big hurdle, the bacteria can't work in very low temperature.

But Mr Porter who is a engineer found the solution of the problem that how to keep digester worn or at optimal temperature by using only simple materials that can be obtained locally.

The solar panels play a major role in transmitting heat to the digester and power the batteries that can be used at night time heating if machine design will be good.

Mr Porter said his group, mount everest biogas project has been approved to build the digester from Nepal's government and the blessing of many climbers.

They are hoping that this design can be a proof of concept for the other mountains. They are receiving donations for the project and the estimate cost of the project will be half a million dollars to install a working digester on everest. They can start working if they raise enough fund.

According to Mr porter he said, " I have spent years climbing mountain and getting experience, getting confidence. I owe something. It's not my mountain I am just there. I should leave it and clean as I found it".
