Water Buffalo

We were walking in the outskirts of our town when I saw this water buffalo amidst the green ricefield. It was an awesome view! I love the contrast of the black buffalo in the green background. The scene was very much like a painting depicting the life in the province.

Water buffalo is native to Southeast Asia. We call it "carabao." Carabao is Philippine's national animal. They are used for plowing and other forms of labor, thus dubbed as a "farmer's bestfriend." Carabao is also a good source of meat, leather and milk.

This industrious carabao seemed to have noticed our presence so it turned to us, and was simply too perfect for a picture taking!

Ok, ok, I see. We have them in Indonesia. We call them "ker-bau" (pronounced: kerbao)

I'm glad to know that. Thank you for giving an interesting comment.
