Edit: revised edit, cookies should be biscuits :D
This is an older photo, but I thought I wanted to share it, since Vera has a tradition of making these things every Christmas to give away as gifts and I doubt that this year is going to be an exception either.

The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) cookies?
Well, what do you know! When I googled up these cookies, it turned out indeed that Australian and New Zealand women used to bake them for their men in serving in the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps established in World War I. They were called Anzac biscuits. Cookie is American English.
