A Table for Two
This image comes from a well-known restaurant and cheese market along the Mississippi River, in Nelso, Wisconson. Throughout the summer, crowds are drawn to the Nelson Cheese Factory for their ice cream, amazing deli sandwiches and, of course, the selection of cheese!
Most Saturdays, a line of motorcycles can be seen parked out front and, on the benches in front of the building, men and women in leather and chrome, enjoying a ball of melting deliciousness.
The old section, once part of the cheese production factory, is a great place to unwind. The crumbling stone windows and metal chairs are combine American small town and an almost European ambiance.

What a view!
It's one of my favorite little restaurants in the middle of nowhere, and only partly because of the ambiance.
It's magical... melancholy.. Well, it's just my impression ;)
One of my best memories from years back is heading home from college and stopping here. It was the half point of the trip. I got a sandwich and a coffee and they seated me in the other side of the restaurant. That side is a little more modern, but with a big wood fireplace. The view looks out over the Mississippi river valley and they were playing Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald songs. It was just a perfect moment in an otherwise chaotic time. :-)
