Waiting for the new 20's

Was there ever a more beautiful era of women than the time of old Hollywood filmstars. Lauren Bacall, Katharine Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, you name it. I think it went all downhill after the 50's. Back then women wanted to look like women. And I don't mean "having curves", cause that is some fat people bullshit propaganda. Clothing sizes where actually a lot smaller back then, but that is a whole other topic itself. What I mean is things like red lips, long hair, high heels and dresses. Don't get me wrong, I'm a jeans, t-shirt and a leather jacket kind of girl most of the time, but I feel the most powerful and beautiful when I doll myself up in a style of old Hollywood glamour.

High heels and red lips changes the way you carry yourself, you stand up a little taller and prouder. There is also a twisted type of intriguing feeling you get from the restriction that sky high pin thin heels cause you, you'll have to be more careful, walk a little slower and possibly at times rely on a man to help you walk on an icy surface. I've been there, friends birthday in early December, walking from bar to another when the meter shows temperatures below zero. Icy sidewalk, some snow, little buzzed from the wine you drank earlier, and a well dressed man by your side. Transferred to another time and place.

You'll notice that I'm a bit of a dreamer, and I love to read books and truly get absorbed in to the story. I become a character and it inspires me in my own life. I often shop for clothes that my imagination has built for a woman character in a good book. And then try to find events to wear them. Always a little girl playing dress up, when actually I was such a tomboy growing up.
