WHY CATS "CHATTER" AT THE SIGHT OF BIRDS
Many owners notice that at the sight of a rodent or a feathery cat begins to make strange sounds that resemble chattering. Specialists have explained what's going on.
When cats see animals, including insects, it's like they're clicking their teeth. It's like a codfish. Some owners do not pay attention to it, while others, on the contrary, are very curious about what causes this phenomenon. Specialist Erika Loftin explained that this sound reflects cat excitement. If fluffy is particularly interested in potential prey, it will certainly make such a rattle.
It is interesting that all cats without exception behave in this way - it doesn't depend on the size and breed. Even wild cats sometimes "chatter". You can also hear these sounds when your pet is looking at toys, food or 'hunting' at the feet of its owner, but this doesn't happen as often.
Another specialist, cat behaviorist Celia Haddon, explained that this kind of thing comes from disappointment. For example, if a cat sits on a window sill and looks out the window, the obstacle is the glass through which it looks at an interesting bird, but can not catch it.
That is, the animal has no possibility to hunt and remains content with visual contact with potential prey. If its tail had a chance to attack, it wouldn't have missed it for sure.
Bird is the word ;)
