A magical journey with the top astronomy photos
A magical journey with the top astronomy photos
The Royal Observatory Greenwich organizes a competition each year to bring out the best space-based photos.
The galaxy, the northern saddle, the constellations are just some of the subjects impressively captured in the unique astronomy photos that are taking part in this year's contest.
The winners will be announced in September, but until then, it is worthwhile to surrender to their magic:
Our galaxy above the Miyun Station telescope on the outskirts of Beijing, HAITONG YU
The Northern Lady, YULIA ZHULIKOVA
The NGC 2023 Nebula in the Orion constellation, WARREN KELLER
Mountain and galaxy in harmony, BRANDON YOSHIZAWA
Portland landmark, ROB BOWES
IC443 is the residue of a galactic supernova in the Gemini constellation, which may have happened 30,000 years ago, CHRIS HEAPY
Star Observator in cave in Switzerland, NICHOLAS ROEMMELT
Spectacular spectacle, Nicolas Alexander Otto
The stars on rotary dance, ANDREW WHYTE
