Some New Photos Of The Baby Bunnies

in #photography7 years ago

I have some new photos of the baby bunnies! They are growing so fast and are in the "little ball of hopping fur stage" and they sure are cute! I think I already mentioned that my daughter raises rabbits. She has Flemish Giants, Silver Foxes, Silver Martens and Mini Rex Rabbits. I may be missing a breed but she will, certainly, let me know if I am. She raises them for breeders, pets, show, sell and meat. I know some people may not like to hear that they are raised for meat also but she is a homesteader and it is what it is. Some breeds though are strictly for pet and show. She also builds hutches and furniture. For Christmas she got a table saw and already has people that want custom pieces of furniture. Besides the rabbits and building things, she is a great gardener, cook and organizer. People pay her to come into their home and organize their “stuff”. Anyway, back to those cute little bunnies. Dart (the Flemish Giant) and Barb (the Silver Fox) had ten babies. One didn’t survive so she now has nine baby bunnies. When they are first born, their eyes are closed and they don’t have their fur yet and I believe I posted a photo a while back of a newborn. These photos pick up after they opened their eyes and got some fur!

Oh my goodness, how cute! They are dark ones!

Around my condo, we have those wild lightish brown/tan ones always hopping around!

Thanks @annariley!! She has a lot of different colors but these came out looking mostly like the mom but a few have a little bit of the dad. I always like seeing the bunnies outside too!! Barb (the mommy) is a great mom and is great with people too!

Cute! the mom overtook the genes! lol

Awesome about Barb!! :))

oh my gosh I want a baby bunny!!!

Lol..these baby bunnies will grow to be a good size!

I have had 3 bunnies b4

Cool! My family had all kinds growing up except the mini's. We always had large breeds so the mini's are new to me! ;)

Mmmmm rabbit🍽 ms.@tanglebranch raised some a couple of years ago and they were yummy!

Thanks Ed and they are! It cost almost forty dollars to buy one in the store and not all stores carry it. I totally get the homesteading and raising your own food so I don't have any qualms about it but understand why some people might. Have a great weekend and stay warm!! ;)

They look just like mama rabbit.

They sure do, only a couple have some light ticking from dad! ;)

Aw little cute bunnies, lovely as pets. When I was young I would go out with my uncle into the farm fields at night with high power torches to hunt out wild rabbits, quite a pest when they increase in numbers for crop farming. They were always collected for meals as well, very good in a stew although you had to be careful to look out or the shot gun pellets - no matter how much fishing them out was done in prep you could guarantee finding one or two in the meat!

Thanks @c0ff33a!! I can just imagine! If I had a farm then I would do the same and have no qualms about it. I've had it a few times and liked it very much. They are very expensive to buy in the grocery store which I was shocked at knowing how fast they multiply but possibly because not many people buy them or even know how to cook them. As a child, my family only ever had bunnies for pets. I never had bunnies as a pet myself. I preferred guinea pigs as they were easier to handle.

Made me smile. :) Thanks!

You're welcome @platosgroove and thank you as well!! = )

They are so stinking cute! I have no problem with them being food. I've never tried rabbit but I've heard of other people eating them. I have tried frog though and they oddly tasted like chicken to me.

Thanks Deb! I've never tried frog but I would given the chance. I've had rabbit a few times and only once I didn't care for it but that was probably more the recipe. I think it tastes a lot like chicken too!
