East Gate Tower of the Song Dynasty, Yangzhou China
It was great to see so many areas in Yangzhou being protected by their heritage organizations. This structure speaks so much when it comes to history. And not just as a visitor to the area, but as a human, it tells me that other respect the past more than I could think. It not always about building that next big building that will never have any story to tell in its lifes history.
This is the East Gate Tower from that Song Dynasty that protected the inner city.

In the front of the tower entrance from the street, there was a statue of Marco Polo. From what I have been able to find out is that he was one of the first to chronicle his trade travels to China. So he for sure had a big influence on the earlier periods in China, to has a statue of him in Yangzhou.

You can see the over view of the area I took for a post a few days ago. Actually, the coffee shop I was in, is in the bottom right of the photo of the street shots.

The coffee is not that bad, they used Lily. THe interesting this is that you don't want to use water straight from the tap because of water issues, so they had a special filtration, especially for the ice.
