Visiting Noccalula Falls, 2nd glimpse
Have you been to Alabama?
Although my wife, our kids, and I now live in central Texas, I grew up in Alabama, where my sister and our mother still reside. Alabama is replete with natural beauty. While on a trip there in August 2017, we paid a visit to scenic Noccalula Falls.
Above in silhouette, but backlit by sunlight below, that's our middle child.
Behind the falls, under the high ledge that the waterfall plunges over, erosion has carved out a vast, cavernous, damp, rock-roofed open space, to the left in all these photos. At this point in our brief, easy, breezy, shady hike, we hadn’t entered there yet.
Above: our youngest stands behind the tree; our oldest, to his right; and my sister, to hers.
more on the way
