From the 1950s until 1974, Lockheed Propulsion ran a plant (and poisoned the water) here in Mentone, CA near San Bernardino. Today, it provides an everchanging canvas for Outsider Art.

20180120_133413.jpg Since Lockheed ditched the site, it has been cited for pollution. In my opinion, the illicit grafitti pieces definitely improve the blight, visually at least.

This is about where the Barn Owl burst out. See part 2 herehttps://steemit.com/photography/@creationofcare/surprising-a-barn-owl-mentone-moments-2

All of these are too good, so I guess I will show you them all! This building was my favorite today, not just because of the Owl, either!

All of these are so amazing. The colors are sharp and have dramatic contrast. You can really sense the individuality in eac since they are signatures and tribal signs.

There were several more buildings that I did not get to today, and probably numerous others I am not even aware of.

This type of art is always being re-curated by new artists. Sometimes that curation takes the form of demolitions, creating new and diminishing canvases.

And these artists always leave behind their empty paintcans.

It is pretty easy to drive right on by Mentone, CA on a journey from LA to Palm Springs. And those of us who love her hope it stays that way.

May your art bloom in the ruined munition plants of your soul.

Thanks to @shasta for suggesting I follow @customnature #aswcontest and enter! I, too, love abandoned places slowly being reclaimed by nature ;)
