As promised, here is the first in a three-part series of the Bulgarian Revivalist style of architecture (late 19th century) found in and views of Koprivshtitsa, located at an altitude of 1,030m in the Sredna Gora (Middle Forest) Mountains of bountiful Bulgaria.
This shows just the traditional style, without the expensive paint-job:
I love the cobblestone streets:
Approximately a century and a half ago -- when the town was at its economic peak (80 years or so before communism came to power here) -- many of the buildings would have been ornamented, as the following houses have been restored to imitate ...
... to some extent or other :)
This one is in perfect condition:
Fancy, schmancy!
And as a bonus, the flowers cut at the end of the season, left to dry in the rubbish pile. But Spring is Coming!
Well, hope you liked the first installment. Join me later for more architectural gems. За now, ciao!
This place is still my favorite, cobblestones and all!! You got some excellent shots covering the gamut. Thanks also for the tidbits of information...I am still trying to figure out what I've seen. ;)
